Following a successful tour of the US in November 2016, Lion Ark is returning to the States next month (February 2017) for screenings in Durham NC and, as a special tribute to ADI Lion Ark veterinarian the late Dr Mel Richardson, Atlanta as well as Athens GA.
The feel-good, empowering Lion Ark tells the story of the most ambitious and daring animal rescue of its kind. Animal Defenders International (ADI) secures a ban on animal circuses in Bolivia following a two-year undercover investigation across South America. Now the law must be enforced. Across vast, hostile terrains the illegal circuses are tracked down, the animals saved, brought to safety and reach a joyous finale as 25 lions are airlifted to freedom in the US.
The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and rescue team and a special short, previewing footage from the recent incredible rescue of over 100 animals in Peru and Colombia. All funds raised will go to a huge lion habitat construction program for over 30 lions rescued by ADI from circuses and flown home to South Africa.
